A Devotional Thought on Psalm 11
David’s psalms often confess trouble and trial. Despite being King over Israel and having the great blessing of hearing God’s Word specifically, uniquely to him, he still felt helpless at times in a hostile world. The wicked hide in the shadows and launch secret attacks against David and against God’s people. Well, that hasn’t changed. I can’t help but think of our experience in modern culture – relativism, post-modernism, and the elevation of science as theology. In this context, attacks against Christians are gaining steam every day. “How foolish to hold to the Bible, to antiquated views on gender, marriage, family, love, creation!” Surely the wicked still bend their bows. And yet the LORD is in his holy temple, and his eye is on all the world. He still reigns. And he is forever righteous. How foolish…? No. Like David, we too will be vindicated. We too will see His face. Take refuge in him.
