Abstinence Works!

No conception - No abortion

Abstinence eliminates the need for abortions!
I have never seen the numbers. I dont know how many of the millions of abortions were performed on married women, but my anecdotal information indicates that likely 80% of abortions are a result of out-of-wedlock pregnancies. What pro-lifer wouldnt rejoice to see abortions reduced by 80%?
Young people today are immersed in sexually-stimulating entertainment. The boob tube rarely shows the abortions and STDs that result from extra-marital sex. Without full parental supervision, teens have plenty of opportunity to explore the sexual pleasures displayed by the entertainment media. Too often the end result of such exploration ends up in the trash bins at abortion clinics. Logically, condoms should reduce the number of such abortions. But the flow of dead babies has been reduced only marginally, and the reduction can easily be attributed to other causes.
It seems to me that pro-lifers everywhere should be outraged at the erotic material that saturates our society. Yet, barely a whimper trickles through the censored channels of the news media. Even in the uncensored publications of the church, the protest against sexual freedom is rarely heard.
The Christian Life Resources library includes materials that support abstinence. I am very impressed with a video by Pam Stenzel entitled Sex Has a Price Tag. There is a national clearinghouse (www.abstinence.net) that offers books, videos, posters, tracts, even jewelry to promote sexual purity. But I knew nothing of these resources until I stumbled across them by accident in my 69th year on this planet.
To be pro-life is to be pro-abstinence. We need to oppose sexual freedom as vigorously as we oppose abortion. . . . Or does the stork bring babies after all?
