Not only has the number of abortions in Kansas dropped to the lowest number in three decades, Utah Department of Health reported yesterday the great news that the number of abortions as well as the state’s abortion rate fell to an historic low in 2016.
An examination of the report shows there were 3,008 abortions in 2016 (200 of which were to women from out of state), a drop from 3,176 in 2015. The abortion rate likewise declined from 4.6/1,000 women ages 15-44 to 4.2 abortions/1,000 women 15-44.
That abortion rate “is the lowest since Utah began keeping records in 1975, said Richard Oborn of the Utah Department of Health,” Lindsay Whitehurst of the Associated Press reported.
