On Friday the Ohio Department of Health released the 2016 Ohio Abortion Report, showing the number of abortions were their lowest in 40 years.
A total of 20,672 abortions were reported–the lowest figure since 1976– a decrease from 20,976 in 2015, and down by over 12, 000 as recently as 2006 when there were 32,936 abortions.
“Since 2010, half of the state’s abortion facilities have been shuttered or closed voluntarily,” Ohio Right to Life responded. “In the last 7 years, Ohio Right to Life has successfully advocated for 19 pro-life initiatives which were signed into law by Governor Kasich.”
National Right to Life’s state affiliate added, “Currently, Ohio Right to Life is advocating in favor of the Dismemberment Abortion Ban and the Down Syndrome Non-Discrimination Act, which will ensure that abortions in Ohio continue to hit record lows.”
